Standard Chartered Foundation

Working in partnership with the Standard Chartered Foundation

Why are we working together:

Futuremakers by Standard Chartered is a global initiative to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion. Its mission is to empower the next generation to learn, earn and grow through programmes focusing on education, employability and entrepreneurship. The Standard Chartered Foundation saw the expertise that SOS Children’s Villages has in leading impactful youth employability programmes around the world. Together we have strategically aligned to empower young people in alternative care to achieve financial independence and to thrive in their chosen careers.

What are we doing:

Working in seven countries: Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Jordan, Mauritius, the Philippines, South Africa and Sri Lanka, Futuremakers and SOS Children’s Villages aim to provide 4,480 young people with the necessary support and skills training to find long-term employment or to start their own businesses. Participants have access to a wide range of technical, vocational and entrepreneurial education and training which focuses on building the core skills they need to succeed. In addition, they are given support to develop the soft skills that are vital to professional success, such as IT literacy, CV writing, interview preparation and professional mentoring.
