Supporting young people to develop sustainable livelihoods in The Gambia

Lines & Current

Why we are working together:

When equipped with the knowledge and skills that young people receive from education, they grow up to be empowered and develop confidence and purpose. When Jon and Rebekah started their jewellery and accessories brand Lines & Current, they felt passionately that young people should benefit too. In 2020 Lines & Current became a supporter of our new Youth Training and Employability Centre, which is having an important impact in The Gambia, one of Africa’s smallest and poorest countries.

What we are doing:

Young people study a range of subjects to support them in enjoying sustainable livelihoods, such as sewing, literacy, catering and PC repairs. Over five years, together we will empower 1,000 young people with training, employability and entrepreneurial skills. Having committed to donating at least 10% of profits, Lines & Current has already helped almost 400 students to graduate from the programme.

Highlights

Lines & Current has donated over £90,000 to the Youth Training and Employability Centre since 2020.
