Support for children and young people - SOS Children's Villages

Support for children and young people

An estimated 1 in 10 children worldwide grows up without the loving care they need.

No child should be alone in this world, but for many it’s a reality.

We know that children thrive in a family environment, so we place them in as close to a family setting as possible.

How we support vulnerable children and young people

We have more than 550 SOS village communities around the world with dedicated SOS parents who give the children the individual care and attention they need, and SOS siblings to grow up with.

We also place children with foster families where possible and when it is in the best interest of the child.

We make sure that all SOS children are happy, supported and cared for every step of the way into adulthood.

We provide access to health care and education in local or SOS nurseries and schools.

We empower young people to acquire the skills they need to transition to the workplace and an independent life. We ensure young people can access education, training and mentorship to help develop their knowledge, confidence and resilience.

We also run vocational training centres providing young people with the relevant qualifications, skills and work experience they need to build successful futures for themselves.

We support young people with the skills and resources into self-employment through entrepreneurial support and guidance.

We believe in unlocking the potential of each and every SOS child, so they grow up to have fulfilling and meaningful lives.
