SOS Children’s Villages UK announces Futuremakers partnership with Standard Chartered Foundation

SOS Children’s Villages UK is delighted to announce a new, two-year partnership with Standard Chartered Foundation.

The two organisations will be working together to support more than 4,000 young people in seven countries to receive crucial support or training to find long-term work.

The projects will run in Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Jordan, Mauritius, Philippines, Sri Lanka and South Africa, providing youth employability projects for children in alternative care and at-risk young people. This partnership will particularly prioritise working with young women and young people with disabilities.

Standard Chartered Foundation has chosen to work with SOS Children’s Villages UK as the organisation has an impressive track record in supporting young people through innovative youth employability activities. YouthCan! SOS Children’s Villages’ global partnership empowers young people who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care by supporting their transition to independence and decent work. In 2020, YouthCan! reached 6,500 young people in 37 countries.

Alison Wallace, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages UK said:
“This partnership couldn’t come at a better time, as young people around the world are struggling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect it has had on their lives. What an incredible opportunity to work with Standard Chartered Foundation and the Futuremakers by Standard Chartered initiative. To each share what we do best to achieve real change for young people around the world. It is through really well thought-out, expert partnerships such as these that we can deliver life-changing impact on the ground.”

Julie Wallace, Head, Standard Chartered Foundation said:
