Naol and Beki* have only known one home – the SOS Children’s Village Jimma in Ethiopia. Having joined as infants, their earliest memories are filled with laughter and warmth.
Growing up together alongside their caregiver, Bizunesh, the twins quickly adapted to life in the Village, forming an inseparable bond that has only grown stronger over time.
From their earliest days, the twins found comfort in each other. As toddlers, they would totter hand-in-hand around the Village, giggling.
Bizunesh fondly remembers how they would fall asleep next to each other, reassured by the familiar presence of their sibling.
“They’ve always had a special bond,” she says. “No matter what, they face everything together.”
From childhood games to schoolwork, they’ve always supported and motivated each other.
“During exams, we study together, helping one another understand difficult subjects,” they share. Their bond extends beyond academics – when one falls ill, the other insists on accompanying them to the clinic, offering comfort in times of distress.
Keeping siblings together fosters a sense of belonging, identity, and security.

“She always encourages us to focus on our studies and develop life skills,” Naol says. “Her advice always comes from a place of care.”
