We recognise that working with businesses, institutions, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) offers significant opportunities to further our impact, but we are committed to ensuring that all partnerships align with our guiding principles and uphold the integrity of our work. 

Our Ethical Partnerships Policy provides clear guidance on how we assess potential partnerships and donations. We aim to work only with organisations and individuals whose values align with our commitment to protecting children’s rights and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children globally. 

Our Guiding Principles 

When forming partnerships, we prioritise the following principles: 

• Alignment with Our Mission: We ensure that all partnerships support our vision and objectives without compromising the best interests of children. 

• No Harm: Partnerships must comply with our ‘do no harm’ principle, safeguarding the dignity and rights of all children. 

• Income and Resources: We seek to engage in partnerships that offer sustainable income, gifts in kind, or other resources, in exchange for which we may provide marketing, promotional opportunities, and the use of our name and logo. 

• Credibility and Independence: We maintain credibility and independence, ensuring that partnerships uphold our values and strengthen the SOS Children’s Villages UK brand. 

Specific Restrictions 

To maintain our commitment to the welfare of children and avoid conflicts of interest, we do not accept donations or enter into partnerships with organisations or individuals that are directly associated with certain activities. These include: 

• Alcohol, Tobacco, and Gambling: We avoid partnerships with organisations deriving significant revenue from these sectors. 

• Arms and Weapons: We do not partner with organisations involved in the manufacturing or distribution of armaments and weapons. 

• Exploitation: We steer clear of partners with a history of child labour, exploitation, or other forms of abuse. 

• Video Games: We do not engage with organisations producing or profiting from video games deemed unsuitable for children under 16. 

• Environmental Negligence and Corruption: We also avoid organisations with a history of environmental harm, corruption, or human rights violations.
