On 13-17 April 2012 is a Thai cultural week celebration as we call 'Songkran festival', it is a Thai tradition New Year celebration, we celebrate this festival by splashing water to each other.  The younger persons will pour perfume into adults' hands as to give respect.  We also clean Buddha image and clean our house as a big cleaning day.  The other source of this festival is; April is the hottest month of the year the original Thai people want to decrease from high temperature.

External activities;

During the year we supported our children on improving their natural ability, they joined in singing contest, drawing competition, and computer competition, some of them got rewards.   Those who did not get any reward got good experience and they learned to socialize to support their future development.   In March, a number of our children went to a temple to learn moral and practice meditation, some boys took Buddhist-novice ordination period during their school vacation.   We also participated in two special religion ceremony; on 7 March 'Makha Bucha Day', to praise our Buddha on his enlightenment and on 4 June, 'Visakha Bucha Day', to commemorate the occasion of Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing away at the same day.   On 26-28 April, the whole SOS family went to a beach in Prachaubkirikhan province at southern of Thailand as a refreshing and relaxing time after long-term study.  Although it took a long way from the village travelling by bus but the children were very happy to spend such a great experience together.   They enjoyed sightseeing along the way and at the beach they enjoyed swimming, happily played beach games, digging sand, making sand-castle, running and lying on the white sand.  The elder siblings let the smaller joyfully put sand cover their body.  They laughed when they seeing their smaller siblings laughed.   The smallest children who this time was their first experience at the sea looked rather anxious to the sound of sea, but after taking time they cheerfully walking along the beach.   They laughed while the sea waves passing their feet or when their body rolling in the sea.  At night many groups surprised with their talent performance.

All school aged children had returned to classes again since the second week of May 2012.  The school performance and results are in generally good.    We still provide additional classes on every Saturday and Sunday to support and to improve their school performance such as mathematic, Thai language and English language learning, art and handicraft, music and sport and computer.    Some children got reward on their special ability:  One boy was promoted to join in provincial football competition and the team got the third prize.  One boy got the first prize reward from a quiz about today world's energy and environment problem at his school. One girl got a certificate of being an outstanding student from her school.

We feel highly grateful for your generous support towards our work, on behalf of everyone there we would like to say "Thank you" for your contribution and for being a friend for our worldwide SOS family.
