I am happy to take this opportunity to update you about the past 7 month's developments in our village Neradim.
Over the course of 2010 and of the past months we have invested many efforts in the maintenance and repairs of our village children's houses and grounds, many roofs were waterproofed and some buildings were repainted on the outside. A new bird cage for exotic birds was placed in the center of the ground and today there are many beautiful and colorful birds living in it to the children's joy. The children and the young volunteers are responsible for the care of the birds.
We continue to provide a wide range of free time activities in the village, many sports, music, arts and crafts, computers, English, makeup, theatre, hiking and many more.
New Youth Home
This year our new facility for the graduates (our 4th one in the village) made an important impact on our village, this facility is for the post high school youth who before, during and after their army service are in need of a home. Neradim now facilitates: 11 children's houses which contains 8 children in each, 4 youth homes and an emergency shelter unit. The village is in more than full capacity with 120 children that live in the different facilities.
This shelter was created to accommodate children who are in the midst of crisis that requires an immediate out of home placement. Since this shelter was opened we have over 70 children come to it with close to half of them staying on in the village as SOS children.
Family strengthening programme in Abu Basma
This project started at the beginning of the year and it cares for 40 children from the greater Arab surroundings, amongst the children are Bedouins, Sudanese refugees and Jewish children.
Our therapeutic approach and hard work produce results. A big part of the children showed progress and improvement in their emotional- behavioral and social function. Through parent's guidance and a combined (child- parent) therapy, we can see an improvement in family relations in some of the children. For the very first time, these children experience success in areas that they failed at, in the past. They learn and discover their strengths and their abilities to progress and how to smile and enjoy. The children are exposed to different interests and gain a lot from them. They progress in their studies some even achieving excellence in the classroom which is a new and exciting experience for them. But most of all, the children receive their basic most right – to love and be loved.
Neradim has been supporting needy children for 30 years now, it will continue to provide a wonderful homey atmosphere full of dignity and love which allows the children to grow up normally and to prosper in life – all this thanks to your endless kind and generous help and support.
On behalf of the children allow me to thank you from the depths of my heart.
