Greetings from SOS Children’s Village Faridabad! At the outset, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your village, Faridabad. We take opportunity to share with you regarding the recent developments of SOS Children’s Village, Faridabad.
A Loving Home for many children:
At present village has been a home for 56 children (20 boys and 36 girls) of different age group. They are staying in 5 family homes under the loving care of 5 dedicated SOS mothers. Five girls and one boy are in residential school and in hostels. Two boys were brought home during this period and they were placed in different family homes where they were not only received warmly, but also were extended a traditional welcome. The SOS mothers have made efforts to make them comfortable and happy at home under their loving care and concern.
During this year Children’s academics performance was outstanding. Up to 10th class over all percentage was 100%. In 12th Board four children appeared for the examination (One boy and three girls) in which one girl got 83% marks and two girls got 60% marks and the boy got reappear in two subjects.
Club and Activities:
Children’s club is actively organizing different activities like Music dance, sports and different educational activities. As a part of Co-curricular activities knowledge and experience sharing has been organized systematically among the children. Successful children from the village are regularly sharing their experiences with the children. To improve the communication skills among the children, part time an English teacher has been arranged to make our children strong foundation in English during the summer vacations. Art and drawing culture was introduced to small children for their perfection in colors. Children club organized some mental aptitude quiz and games for all age group to become prompt and accurate for their all round development. In the vacations children utilize our village library excellently, where they spent maximum time to read different types of books.
International Year of Family was celebrated in the village. A renowned psychologist Ms Upasana Sharma shared the family tips with the Children and mothers.
On March 26,2011 World Earth hour was celebrated with an unambiguous commitment to the planet by switched off our lights from 8.30 to 9.30 P.M to aware our children about the mother planet. Children organized a quiz on planet Earth under the candle light.
Festival Celebration and Enjoyment:
The festival of Lohri was celebrated in the village with Zeal and Zest. Camp fire was organized on this occasion. Children Mothers and staff members sang and danced on the tunes of folk music. The festival of colors, Holi was celebrated in the Village. On this festival settled youth and children studying outside visited in the village on the occasion to celebrate the festival. It was a very memorable day for the Village Community. The SOS Day was celebrated with joy and great enthusiasm. Children and mothers participated in different competition organized on this occasion.
