A child sponsorship report from Bogra in Bangladesh. Written in 2009.

Dear friends,

Another precious year from our life is going to be over. We have been trying our level best to renew our commitment to the children entrusted to us. Of course you will like the following information on SOS Children's Village Bogra on the eve of Merry Christmas 2009 and Happy New Year 2010. We are confident and hopeful in getting same type of cooperation and support from you in the years to come.

There are 42 boys and 60 girls: 12 are in pre school level, 60 are in primary level, 22 are in secondary level, 11 are in higher secondary level and 5 children are taking different job oriented training. There are 28 boys in SOS Youth Home Bogra, studying in secondary level, higher secondary level and in different job oriented training. Six boys passed in Secondary School Certificate examination and four boys took passed in Higher Secondary Certificate examination. Now they will appear at admission test in different universities and Medical Colleges. Eight boys are living in the Youth Corner, 4 girls are in Boarding Houses. Six girls passed Secondary School Certificate examination and two girls passed Higher Secondary Certificate examination and trying for admission in different university level courses. Our girls took part in inter District Volleyball competition and got championship in District level. 8 girls have been selected in Cricket Team Camp in July 2009. Besides, children participated in co-curricular activities like Music, Dance, Drawing, Debate, Karate etc.

There are 585 children in SOS College Bogra. Deputy Commissioner of Bogra attended as Chief Guest in the occasion of the Hermann Gmeiner Scholarship award giving ceremony in February. One Lecturer in Mathematics was also given a special award. International Mother Language Day was observed through cultural Programme. All national and special days have been celebrated with due significance.

Total target Family Strengthening Program in SOS Social Centre Bogra is 450 this year. At present FSP children studies in 49 different schools. One of our FSP boy passed Secondary School Certificate examination and one girl passed Higher Secondary Certificate examination 2009. Three mothers have been honoured by our President Mr. Helmut Kutin with SOS-Ring, for their long service with devotion.
