Dear Friends and Child Sponsors,
The year is coming to an end and we usually don’t look back but we make plans for the future. Besides all the joy and difficulties of the daily life we also think of people whom we have to thank for the security and care they provide our children. First of all I would like thank you for it and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The year 2009 hasn’t brought any special changes in the life of the children’s village in Kecskemét, which means that we want to provide four our children, families and co workers while we want to keep our results and professional development too.
In 10 houses of the children’s village there are SOS-families and 5 families live outside the children’s village but they also belong to us.
The number of children has decreased but the reason is that 7 children could get back in their biological families, 7 youngsters got in the youth house in Lajosmizse (near Kecskemét) where they can prepare for the independent life better, 10 children went in other non-SOS facilities and 1 child has been brought back to the country where his biological mother lives. During these events 21 children came in our children’s village, most of them are small children. So are living 69 children in our children’s village now.
In the families there were some changes too; one SOS-mother, just before retiring, runs a running-out family and another SOS-mother, already retired, let go of her adult child to live an independent life.
We have also started a special service. From January on we help families in need in the city of Kecskemét. These families find a shelter here till they can overcome their difficulties. The crisis house works in one of the houses of the children’s village.
From the beginning of the summer time we were helping 9 orphan siblings. So the oldest boy, 24 years old, has been charged with the task of the foster parents. The siblings could stay in their own home with the oldest boy as a parent. The whole family is connected with the SOS-children’s village in Kecskemét.
This Autumn we started new activities like dancing for the small children, drama games, pottery workshops and we are still doing movement development workshop as well as psychological advising.
We have a lot of programs for the next year; we are planning to receive new children, to develop families and to train further SOS-mothers.
The most beautiful period is approaching; this is the period of the preparation for Christmas. Children are looking forward to it in excitement because of the snow and the gifts but we also know that love, care, friendship and cooperation will be present at the celebration, too. And you will be there, too, with us as well as you are with us during the whole year.
I wish you on behalf of all the member and co worker of the children’s village a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
