First of all, I would like to wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010. This festival may brings happiness and prosperity in your life. We are grateful for, your empathetic feelings, towards the children of SOS children’s Village Kavre. We believe, your generous support in bringing-up these children counts a lot for their better future. Once again it’s my great pleasure to be together with you to share, development and progress report of your favorite SOS Children’s Village Kavre.
At present, there are 140 children in the care of 14 family homes of whom 72 are boys and 68 are girls. 134 children are studying from nursery to XII std. This year we have shifted 22 youths (15 boys) and (7 girls) to the SOS Youth Facility Kavre. 74 youths are preparing for independent life by living in this facility among them 45 are Boys and 29 are Girls. This year 5 of our youths were sent to their root family. We have welcomed 23 new children, among them 2 female child one of them, are only 13 days and another one just only 5 days when they are admitted here.
We arranged district level Essay Competition on the occasion of National children’s Day. Likewise on behalf of the President of SOS Children's Villages International Mr. Helmut Kutin, the formal opening program of SOS Youth Facility Kavre was accomplished in September. Refresher class on Child’s Rights and Child’s participation was conduct for the SOS Mothers and children. Similarly the same awareness program was arranged for the mothers from community too. One day Personality Development program for the village children was arranged in this November. SOS Mothers and other coworkers had attended training program conducted by SOS National Training Centre through out the year.
This year, our children succeeded to achieve several medals in the sports-meet at their school especially in athletics. Similarly our child Jamuna and Sabitri won 2nd runner up position in under sixteen girl’s double district level 5th Inter School badminton tournament. Manila from SOS Youth Facility succeeded to bag 3rd prize in National level Badminton Tournament. The academic result of grade 11 is found to be satisfactory. Roshani from Youth Facility succeeded to hold 2nd position in her faculty at her college.
Through Family Strengthening program (FSP) altogether 225 children (boys 116) and (Girls 109) are under our care. Whereas in SOS Higher Secondary School Kavre total 610 students (Boys 349) and (Girls 261) are getting quality education.
Thank you again for all your deeds for these needy children, they have always been appreciated. We wish your support to shape their better future on coming days too. We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010 hope to be back to you with better news and progress.
