Vientiane, October 30th 2009.
It is our great pleasure to express our deepest thanks and great gratitude for your generous support to our SOS Children’s Village Vientiane / Lao PDR. May we take this opportunity to present our progress report during the second half of year 2009 to you.
The total number of children is at the moment 192 (69 girls and 123 boys) in which 119 (57 girls, 62 boys) are living with mothers in the village, 20 boys at youth house, 12 girls and 41 boys staying at dormitory and hostel. 7 of them were newly admitted into the village in the age from 2 to 8 years old: 1 girl “ Nat” into Family House No 1, 3 siblings “Pane, Khao, Lanoy” into family house No 13, one girl “ Mo” into family house No 7 and 2 girls “ Pho, Neun” into family house No 4 on 10.09.2009.
In June 3 boys ( Khek, Le, Tiksilo) were moved from Village to Youth house and 3 boys from Youth house to school dormitory in the same time.
From academic year 2008-09: there were 13 children ( 6 boys and 7 girls) on finding a job: 3 girls ( Phetsamone, Khanthaly, Khone) graduated as bachelor degree in accounting and English teacher branch ; 2 boys ( Phouvong and Sisavath) got the bachelor degree on Environment and IT branch. Besides that 4 girls graduated with the high diploma : “Choi and Mout” in Lao Literature teacher branch, “ Ketkeo” in accounting and “Savatdy” in Agriculture branch and 4 boys : “Bounthanh” obtained the diploma as a sport teacher , “Chanh” Vanh” “Kay” are now working in diverse shop (furniture, cooling and car shop).
The new academic year 2009-10 was started earlier 2 months in advance since 1st July 2009 in according to our country, because the 25th Sea Games will be held in Vientiane capital in coming December 2009. Among of 192 children, 178 are enrolling in different levels such as: 9 kids in nursery, 59 in primary , 21 in lower secondary , 32 in upper secondary, 25 in college and 32 in university. 13 girls and boys found a job and one girl stays at home.
In last September we have organized the seminar for 3 days on Child Right and Child Protection Policy of SOS Children International with participation of all co-workers, teachers from SOS School Vientiane, mothers, aunts and elder children. One new mother candidate has joined with others from 4 projects the theory training for 30 days at the Mother Training Centre in Vientiane.
