Child Sponsorship Report 2009, from Seoul, South Korea

How have you been? I believe you are having a great Summer!
This is Mr. Yoo sponsorship officer from SOS Children's village in Seoul.
I deeply appreciate your great continuous support for Seoul SOS Children's Village  and children during the first half of 2009.
Just because of your supports, we have executed many various activities and educations for our children during the period.

During the first half of 2009, we have done :

1. February 21st. 2009. Volunteers from Mi-Rae Asset Securities Co. Ltd. decided to help our monthly Cultural Experience Activities at every third Saturday afternoon for one year period.
In February, they skated with our children in the ice link, in March, we had dairy farming experiences in Mo-San pasture, in April, we visited the National Science Museum, in May we viewed the Parao and Mummy exhibition in the Central National Museum. All of the above mentioned activities surely help our children to improve their mental stabilities and their cultural experiences.

2. March 26th. 2009, By the supports of Seoul Metropolitan City and Kuk-Min Bank, we opened the Children's Library of the Seoul SOS Children's Village.
Many guests like a Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan City, CEO of Kuk Min Bank, our district Mayor, and a member of National Assembly, congratulated our opening ceremony. The library currently owns approximately 10,000 books and opens for our children and neighborhood children. Many children are enjoying their readings in the library.

3. April and May 2009, Many sponsors and volunteers helped children of Seoul SOS Children's Village.
In April 7th, Volunteers from the Korean Broadcasting System visited our village and fixed electronic equipments. In April 10th, Nike Golf donated clothes and sneakers. In April 29th, by the invitation of volunteers from the Korean Land Development co., our children visited the DMZ located in Pa-Ju, Kyung Gi province. In May 23rd, by the invitation of volunteers from Hyun-Dai Oil Bank co., our children enjoyed the musical 'the Swan and Lake' a lot.

4. May 16th 2009, we held the fifth Love Sharing Charity Bazar in the Seoul SOS Children's village.
In spite of the bad weather, more than 200 volunteers and 2,000 visitors joined the bazar. The profits of the bazar were used for buying books and equipments in our newly opened library.

5. In June 27th 2009, we held our 27th Anniversary Ceremony successfully.
During the morning, all of our village families attended the mass(Christian). After the mass, we prized the model children and had a buffet lunch all together. In the afternoon, we had an athletic meeting. Everyone in the village had a wonderful day.

Because of the patronages of our overseas sponsors, a lot of Korean sponsors and volunteers are visiting and helping our village a great deal.
For the better future of our children, I do expect your continuous love and supports.
Also, we promise you to do our best to improve our educations for the children and to make our children more independent.
Again, we deeply appreciate your continuous supports.
