SOS Children India receives prestigious award
SOS Children's Villages India have been awarded the prestigious PHD Chamber Award 2009, for unprecedented contribution towards social welfare.
Established in 1905, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the premier apex Chamber of Commerce serving trade, industry and commerce in eleven northern Indian States. SOS Children's Villages of India received the award from the Finance Minister of India, Pranab Mukherjee. The annual award strives to honor Indian companies, enterprises and individuals to acknowledge their work in various sectors of economy, social and education - related issues every year.
Rakesh Jinsi, the National Director of SOS Children's Villages of India said, "It is a moment of extreme pride and honor to have received such a prestigious award. This award again emphasizes and restates the strong belief and faith of Founder Father Dr. Hermann Gmeiner, who successfully began with the SOS Movement 60 years ago. The award brings along with it a greater responsibility and promise to excel in our stream."
Currently there are 40 SOS Children's Villages in India as well as 122 SOS Nurseries, Schools, Social, Medical, Vocational Training Centers that reach out to over 15,000 children.
