London Marathon 2011 and High Legh Robert Moffat Memorial 10k
Want to challenge yourself in 2011, in aid of SOS Children?
SOS Children does not have any charity places in the Virgin London Marathon 2011. We therefore encourage people who have successfully applied for a marathon place through the ballot to choose to run on our behalf.
Although we are a small office and do not have the resources to provide team training, pre-marathon pasta parties and post-marathon sports massage, we do ensure our supporters' sponsorship makes a real difference to orphaned and vulnerable children around the world.
If you choose to raise funds for SOS Children, we will provide you with a complimentary light-weight SOS running vest or t-shirt, facilitate your sponsorship through justgiving or virgin money giving, keep in touch to support you through your training and be there to cheer you on when Sunday 17 April arrives. If you would like your sponsorship to benefit a specific SOS Children's Village or outreach programme, we will earmark all the funds we receive through your fundraising in this way, and provide information about our work.
Are you disappointed that you did not get a place in the Virgin London Marathon 2011? Why not sign up for another challenge? There are plenty of 10ks, half marathon and full marathons taking place across the UK and overseas, throughout the year.
High Legh Robert Moffat Memorial 10k
Sign up now for the Runner's World-award winning race, the High Legh Robert Moffat Memorial 10k which takes place on Sunday 27 February 2011 at 11am.
The route follows a historic path along the roads through High Legh and the surrounding Cheshire countryside. It is mainly flat, but there are enough bumps and slopes to keep this interesting, but this isn't an arduous course and will suit both beginners and veteran runners alike. Each junction is marshalled and you'll get encouragement from them all. The course has markers at each kilometre and water stations after 3.5 and 7k. High Legh School PTA offers hot refreshments and snacks.
Places cost £12.50 and participants are asked to raise £100. To register for a place, please contact Caroline Baker
