SOS Children Mali is granted official recognition
SOS Children has been helping families and children in need in Mali for more than twenty years. Last month, the government granted the organisation's national association in Mali the official recognition of public utility.
SOS Children has been well established in Mali for many years. Aside from the three Children's Villages in Sanankoroba, Socoura and Kita - each with a nursery - there are also three SOS schools, an SOS Youth Facility and a number of other programmes that work to support families.
In the official announcement of the recognition of public utility, the government acknowledged the association's commitment to the promotion and protection of families and children in Mali as well as their relentless effort in strengthening families and children in family-based care with the goal of "reintegrating them into economic and social life".
While this new legal status comes with certain obligations towards the government, especially when applying for public funds, it also allows SOS Children's Villages Mali to initiate fundraising activities on their own account and to receive donations, funding and legacies.
On behalf of the entire organisation, we would like to congratulate the entire staff of SOS Children's Villages Mali on this huge step in the association's development!
