Do you want to change lives this Christmas? The SOS Alternative Gifts give you the opportunity to give a present that will change lives.

By giving one of our alternative gifts, you can help us provide a new family, education and healthcare to orphaned and abandoned children at our SOS Children's Village Basse in The Gambia.

The SOS Village is made up of 12 family houses that provide a home for more than one hundred vulnerable children, many of whose mothers died during childbirth. Here the children have found the love and security of a new SOS mum and family, are able to attend the SOS Schools and receive all the medical care they need.

The SOS Schools are also available to children from the local community where educational services are extremely basic.

By sending one of our alternative gifts, you can help us to provide children in The Gambia with a safe and secure childhood and a future. Your donations will go towards supporting the SOS Children's Village Basse.

The numbered examples shown below will give an idea of the impact your gift will make:

  • 19) £7 could provide a child's school fees and materials for one month
  • 20) £15 could pay for one month's transport to the SOS School for a child living in the local community
  • 21) £25 could provide food and clean water for one month for a child living in the SOS Children's Village
  • 22) £200 could cover medical costs for all the children and staff living at the SOS Children's Village Basse for one month

Sending a charity gift at Christmas

Once you have chosen which charity gift you would like to send, we will send you a Gift Card (measuring 100 x 152 mm) to give with one of the pictures (shown on the right) and details of how this gift will support the SOS Children's Village Basse, The Gambia.

Select your chosen gift number from above and use our gift order form and return to the address on that form. Please do not send to the SOS Children office. Cheques should be made payable to SOS Children.

If you are a tax payer you may be eligible to include Gift Aid as part of your donation.

We also have a selection of Christmas cards, gifts and stationary available to help support orphaned and abandoned children. Our Christmas Appeal also lets you send a gift of child sponsorship to a loved one or colleague.
