Update for child sponsors from the SOS Children's Village Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico from Winter 2008.

Dear Sponsors:

We are speaking to you, one more time, to share with you the latest events at the Village, not before honestly being grateful to you for the whole support provided.

Thanks to your generous contributions, SOS Children’s Village Tuxtla Gutierrez houses nowadays 76 boys and girls, who at present have the opportunity of developing within a warm and family environment.

We start telling you that in May, the mothers were very paid tribute due to the different celebrations at their children’s schools; of course, the celebration with the administrative personnel at the Village could not be missed!! where the mothers had a very good time*.

Ernesto, the athlete guy, has continued competing, this time, he traveled to the Tamaulipas State, where he got five gold medals and a bronze one at golf ball**.

July was a complicated month to mom Miriam’s home, due to the fact that her child Miriam Sarai was underwent a harelip surgery. When Miriam Sarai was recovering herself, her sister Ofelia had to be underwent an emergency appendicitis surgery. Fortunately, both of them got recovered themselves in a suitable way. Miriam Sarai has started her language therapy.

Happiness arrived in this house again, when Miriam took in one new family member. His name is Arturo, and he is from Orizaba, Veracruz; in spite of all preoccupations Miriam was going through, she organised an amusing welcome party for Arturo. Miriam decorated her house with many banners and balloons. Miriam’s children were very excited for their new brother. When the time came, all community was ready to welcome Arturo.

This year, the majority of the children were registered in the summer course organized by the Technology and Science Museum. Disabled and non-disabled children participated in this course. It made children’s vacations different from the other years’ vacations.

In August, also the house number 2 was plenty of joy, owing to the fact that mom Addy took in Luis Angel, Jose Manuel, Cristian, and Adolfo. The family’s dynamic changed positively, mainly for Lizandro, who was the only non-disabled at home; therefore, his new brothers’ arriving means the opportunity of playing and interacting in a different way.

The mothers’ and aunts’ training is going on. Within this period, 6 aunts went to the Training Centre; two of them coursed the second training level and the other four started with the firs one.

One of our hugest satisfactions was the mom Naty’s achievement, who Joint to her daughter Daniela, made all procedures, so that Daniela could enter to the Blind People National School, located in Mexico, City; where Daniela will be taught a job and many other things useful for her independent life.

Among so much happiness, we also had sad moments, when Mario and Eduardo had to come back to the previous institution, due to the fact that these guys could not get used to the organisation’s family model.

We hope this year has been a prosperous one for you and all your dear people. Thanks again for everything are possible due to your help. Receive our most honest blessings.

Regards.

** It is a kind of sport in which there are two 3 player teams. The players’ eyes are covered with a scarf. A ball, similar to the basketball balls, is used. There is a bell is inside the ball, which allows the player to know where the ball is. The objective is to bring the ball to the opposite goal.
