Gaza Blog: Summer games and the siege in Gaza
This summer, SOS Children has planned summer activities like going to the so the children can have a little holiday. All the children go there, they play in the water and have a good meal. "Sahar" (8) and "Yousif" (4) have been living at the SOS Children's Village for more than a year after their mother died and their father re-married. These 2 young children have never been to the beach before and when they arrived, it was like a dream for them.
Every day at the SOS Children's Village many activities take place like kung fu, swimming, singing, folkloric dance and plays, and everybody there participates as they desire. There is also skills training like drawing and how to use the computer. With so many activities happening, the children almost forget about the hardship and war in Gaza - they try to stay away from the bad memories of sorrow. Yesterday, when I was at the Children's Village; many of the children came toward me smiling and asked me to join them for a trip to the Zoo.
