Sponsor's update from Chvalčov, Czech Republic

Child sponsorship update from the SOS Children's Village Chvalčov, Czech Republic from Winter 2008.

The winter was almost without snow, at least in Chvalcov and so they looked forward to ski training in High Tatras. The all children from our village went there soon afterwards they got half-yearly school reports. There was plenty of snow and so they enjoyed winter gaieties, learn skiing or improved their ski skills so that they could take breath to the next half year.
Beautiful memories of this stay still remain them.

Early spring was in token of village cleaning, where all helped and so this brigade work run quickly and they enjoyed lots of fun.

In April our children participated in the action “Bambiriada” in Zlín, where they presented our SOS Children’s Village. There was a stand with various advertising materials about SOS Children. Many people dropped by to this stand and interested in life of our village.

The older children, nowadays the inhabitants of the Youth Facility performed their dance on the stage, which they had been training hard for several weeks. Although it was a very important period for them by reason of their preparation for final exams, they made it well. They spent very pleasant common weekend in Prague thanks to Bambiriada. Besides they enjoyed lots of sport activities, paintings, competitions...

At the end of April our children took part in the action “Witch burning” in Chvalcov, where many women and girls had so good masks that they were beyond recognition at all.

Our children got a very nice gift from the firm Nutricia Deva on the occasion of The Children’s Day in June. This firm arranged their transport by bus and so our children could enjoy very pleasant time with lots of competitions and attractions including delicious refreshment.

Events at Chvalčov, Czech Republic

The end of school year was coming slowly. The all of the village celebrated it and roasted and grilled. The inflatable castle also diversified this celebration.

This summer was hot and so it was great for the children to visit an aqua-park in Prague, which is the biggest in our republic. This action was sponsored by the Prague bank and our children could enjoy various toboggans and other water attractions. The very pleasant trip was to the ZOO in Lešná, where a number of animals increased recently.

During the summer holiday they could not so meet in the village, because they went to the camps, on visits of grandparents or various trips ..and on the top of it the children from the Youth Facility tried some brigade works....They chatted about their holiday adventures at the camp fire and roasting, which was organized for a conclusion of this summer holiday.

There were some changes at the beginning of new school year in the village. Two SOS families with children and a new pedagogue came to the village. There was a change of aunts, too, the one left on maternity leave, because she will give birth to a baby soon.

In September they went down the river Morava which strengthened good-fellowship among each other within the village. Next pleasure was the search game called “Stop Chvalcov gang” in which participated besides SOS children also children from Chvalcov. Then they played a game again and searched “The Hedgehog in the cage” in the Jewish Quarter in Trebic town. The stay in a hut without electricity somewhere in a forest in Bílé Karpaty mountains during the autumn holiday was really adventure for them, too. During a year besides these described actions they visited performances, went on trips and came to know nature.

The youth from the YC could use the opportunity to spend a weekend with lectors that aimed at strengthening of self-respect.

Christmas and Year end are coming slowly and so our children are looking forward to a Christmas party and beautiful moments at a Christmas tree....
