Sponsor's update from Hampolol, Mexico
Child sponsorship update from the SOS Children's Village Hampolol, Mexico from Winter 2008
Dear sponsors:
Receive affective greetings from the southeast part of Mexico. It is really a pleasure for us to inform you about the most important events, which have been carried out lately at the SOS Children’s Village Hampolol.
Fortunately, the families have not suffered any grave illness, we just had two mishaps: Danielito, who has a kidney illness, got a little relapse; and Gabriela who was underwent an appendicitis surgery; however their recovering has been very fast and favorable.
We had a very hot summer; therefore, families went to aquatic parks, and before the summer vacation finished, the Village’s youths enjoyed an evening on the sea’s shore. This experience strengthened, even more, the fraternity laces between these youths.
After a meticulous selection, we finally have every aunt vacant covered, who along these months, have gone to the training center to be trained. Thanks to the aunt coverage, we could open one more house where we took in nine new children. The welcome party for these children was spectacular; every family presented every new child with a gift.
Within the most relevant achievements, we can share with you the case of Maria (independent youth) who got her degree in Enterprises Administration; Marilu (youth community member) who got a university scholarship due to her good school average; and Esther (SOS mother) who got her degree in Informatics.
I want to share with you the major impediment for the community, which is the distance between the Village and Campeche City. We are located in a small rural town; therefore, it is very complicated that children and youths be registered in extra scholar courses; commuting to the Campeche City represents a time and a money expense. In the Village there is just one bus, it is necessary that we get well organised so that the service be functional; however, it is very difficult to adjust the schedules, due to the fact that every family have their own needs.
Receive from all families at this community a strong hug, and one more time, we reiterate our gratitude and admiration for your generosity. We wish you a 2009 year plenty of health, peace, love and happiness.
Regards,
Sandra María García Flores
SOS Children’s Village Hampolol director
