Genworth Financial raises over £25,000 at BMW PGA Championship
Genworth Financial, a global financial security company, has raised over £25,000 for SOS Children during their ‘Putts for Charity’ fundraising initiative at the recent, BMW PGA Championship.
The glorious weather was the perfect backdrop as golf-pro Ross Fisher kicked off the event by sinking a £5,000 one putt. He was followed by Miguel Angel Jimenez, Graeme McDowell and Robert Karlsson. Funds raised by the efforts of both pro’s and members of the public will help SOS Children continue to provide new families and homes for orphaned and abandoned children worldwide.
For every one putt made by the Tour Professionals during the tournament week, Genworth donated £2 to SOS Children, and for every one putt made by visitors to Genworth’s specially constructed greens in the sponsor’s village, a further £1 was donated.
Martin Ring from Genworth Financial said: “Putts for Charity is a fantastic opportunity for Genworth to give back to the communities we serve as a business across Europe. SOS Children’s Villages is a hugely deserving beneficiary.”
‘Putts for Charity’, run in association with the Tour Players Foundation, will be raising money at four further European Tour destinations during 2009. Read more about the Barclays Scottish Open, July 9-12 here
