Twin Communities are partnering with SOS Children's Villages to encourage more people in the developed world to make a direct contribution to the lives of people in the developing world by creating relationships, sharing friendship, knowledge and ideas, as well as financial assistance.

In March, Maya Coxon of Twin Communities visited the SOS Children's Villages School in Bakoteh, The Gambia, to see first hand the work of SOS. "I was surprised and impressed by the high standard of facilities and education on offer at the SOS school compared with other schools in the area. The children have a real opportunity to excel" Maya said. At present SOS Children supports over 23,000 people in The Gambia through two SOS Children’s Villages (in Bakoteh and Basse), a SOS Youth Home, two SOS Nursery Schools, two SOS Schools, one SOS Vocational Training Centre, a SOS Family Strengthening Programme and a SOS Medical Centre.

Twin Communities was founded by brother and sister team Sunil Mistry and Maya Coxon. Their aim is to work directly with those in need in developing countries, helping them to free themselves from the trap of poverty with direct financial assistance and moral support. Twin Communities hopes to inspire others in the developed world to get directly involved with communities in need and work with them for lasting change. One of the ways they will be doing this is by encouraging people to take out sponsorships with SOS.
