Sponsor's update from Moin, Costa Rica

Child sponsorship update from the SOS Children's Village Moin, Costa Rica from Summer 2008.

SOS Children's Village Moín has begun to grow. It has the potential to host 45 children more than last year. This change is due to the construction of five new houses that were finished on December 2007. In January of this year we began to buy all the necessary things to equip the new houses, today we reach the goal we had proposed months ago. This month we also hosted 2 beautiful children in a family that are given them love, respect and security and that every day allows them to develop their potential.

On February 8th, we formed a new family with 3 members. The children felt very happy in their new home and because her mother bought them a lot of new clothes. These children are studying in a private school because they have very good academic performance. It's great to see how in such a short time have learned to call "Mom" to the lady who welcomed with much love.

On March 7th we formed a new family with 8 members. The youngest is 5 years old. All these children become very educated, friendly and affective. The first day they arrived at their new home they jumped with happiness and even today expressed great joy for their new family and his new friends they have in school and in the Village.

Overall, we had a good start this year. Children in the Village look forward to entering classes and thus the purchase of school supplies. At this stage we are receiving the first results and the vast majority is characterised by having very good academic performance.

Children growing up in Moin, Costa Rica

At least 5 children are training to participate in the coming Student Games, they have shown great discipline and effort in trainings, so they have been highlighted among others children in the school community, we expect they have success in this beautiful activity. The rest of the children in the SOS Children’s Village Moín attend classes in swimming, spinning, drawing, painting, dance and most of them enjoy sports such as soccer, volleyball, baseball, as well in traditional games. Children at the Village share these moments with respect, solidarity and of course all a lot of fun. In addition, children have begun to prepare themselves for the celebration of the independence of our country which will take place in September.

Each week the families go to church and organise themselves to make trips to places near to the Village, for example, the beach or recreational parks. In March this year, we conducted a walk to the beach which was attended by all families, this activity really improve the lives of all that we live in the Village. It motivates us to start other organised activities such as the cleaning of the Village.

At this time we are preparing to launch a new process of constructing a wall for the Village also we want to host more than 30 children. We hope sincerely to succeed in everything we are undertaking and to be able to continue sharing with you a little more about our SOS Children’s Village Moín.
