Sponsor's update from Malakal, Sudan

Child sponsorship update from the SOS Children's Village Malakal, Sudan from Winter 2007/2008.

We from SOS Children Village Malakal give our special honor and gratefulness to you for the greatest affords that you are continually giving to our SOS Children Village Malakal, which helps in prepare children to become good citizens in the future. It is also a nice opportunity to pass our Christmas warm greetings and best wishes and prop rouse happy New Year 2008. We hope you will enjoy your Christmas and New Year joyfully.

In the past six months there was not much events that has occur which worth mention, but the normal routines as usually. As we have informed you early in our last Jan report we still have the same number of 11 houses, 11 mothers and 4 aunts with total number of children 103. From 103 numbers of children we have 16 boys and 14 girls that are ready for youth house, their preparation is complete. So we hope in the coming year 2008 they will be moving to youth houses.

Concerning education the children are preparing for final examination to go to their next classes. This will start in the middle of December. This year the schools opened early there for they will close for holidays early before Christmas due to the changes in the educational curriculum system. This year six of our SOS children who have reached the school age had joined their nursery school. We will inform you with more information about their progress in school later in June 2008 after receiving their school reports. With extra lessons that they are getting we hope, they will have good results.

Activities for children in Malakal, Sudan

In activities usually we have the daily and the routine activities that the children do, like playing football, handball scouts. They are still under training we hope they will benefit from that to enable them to join other big teams outside within the community but for singing and dancing they are the best, they always create good entertainment in the occasions of the village and also they are invited by different sectors in their festivals to perform their beautiful songs and dances.

During these last Eid Ramadan holidays most of SOS Children went to visit their real families, it is one of chances for them to be together with their relatives ,brothers and sisters. This makes them feel their people real love and care for them but due to certain conditions that is whey they were brought to SOS.

Mothers and children are now waiting for Christmas ,there is a lot of expectations what they want to do for Christmas .They propose to do Christmas carols and party in SOS Children Village during these coming Christmas. Others proposal is to go for picnic in near by rural areas not far from Malakal town they never saw these places before because of the past war.

In conclusion I on behave of all who are in SOS Children Village would like to pass our gratefulness for the greatest support that you are doing for SOS Children Village Malakal.
