Child sponsorship update from Valle de Ángeles
Update for child sponsors from the SOS Children's Village Valle de Ángeles, Honduras Summer 2008
Dear Friends and Sponsors:
Receive greetings from the SOS Children Village Valle de Angeles and our best wish of blessings now and forever.
It is a motive of happiness to speak to you about the different events of relevancy of the life of our Village, this year has passed very fast.
Our population keeps suffering some changes, in the ends of March we received a 12 young group that were living in the SOS Village San Jose; from them our actual population in the Village are 76 children and young people distributed in 8 houses and 36 young people distributed in 3 Youth Communities: one males community and two females community.
These young have integrated very well to the life style of the Village; they are supporting in gardening, maintenance and with their support we are developed a familiar orchard in which we produce carrots, bean, pumpkins and corn, in the other hand this helps to them like an occupational therapy and enrichment of the alimentary diet of the homes. Also 6 of them have integrated to the vocational workshops of the Brain Paralysis Program where they learn Bakers and Hangings.
We are doing the necessary negotiations to 8 young can integers to the labor life in some supermarkets in Tegucigalpa whom has opened the doors to give the opportunities to this disabled people and that is very hard to find.
Achievements for the year
This young are very happy and dynamics and with they arrival they have filled us with happiness; for that reason we have programmed “Happy Afternoons” with candies, cookies, piñata (Pottery jar filled with candies), cokes and music to dance.
Also 4 young more are integrating into the Especial Training Centre where are continuing receiving eulogies because their good behavior and academic yield. In the Community School and Nursery School there are integrating 3 more children. We have a 62 children and young group that are being attended in an individual way by psychologist of the Village because we don’t count any more with a Especial School.
It is a motive of happiness also the fact that one of our young boys, who has remained during all his life in the Village, has initiated a new stage in his life now as independent young man; he counts now with a small housing and a permanent job in a Farm since 5 years ago that in spite of being deaf and dumb it has been able to maintain thanks to his daily effort, responsibility with the assigned tasks and his will to go forward without importing the obstacles that he should face. All this has achieved thanks to the effort of his mother to guide him like a good citizen in spite of his limitation.
Hoping that the information should be useful for you and God bless and accompanies forever.
Sincerely,
Lic. Juan Carlos Urquía, Director
Aldea Infantil SOS Valle de Ángeles
