Child sponsorship update from the SOS Children's Village Khartoum, Sudan from Winter 2007/2008
Dear Friend,
Avail me this opportunity to wish you Merry CHRISTMAS, and happy NEW YEAR.
With great pleasure, I would like to send you my warm greetings and I wish you MERRY CHRSTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR, and thank you a lot for your appreciated and continuous contribution you keep offering to our children. We know that sponsorship is the most direct and efficient way to help children in need. When you sponsor a child you (grantee) that he will grow-up in a wrath and secured family, thank you again for your help that ensures the ongoing mission of our SOS Children Villages Khartoum.
In spite of the flourishing economy of Sudan, still we need to work hard on child care and help children who are in distress to give them good future.
In SOS Children Villages in Khartoum, there are now (90) SOS children who are under our direct care, (for one year to 13 years), (71) of them are boys and (19) girls. Our SOS mothers impress them with love & security.
This year all SOS co-workers and mothers working very hard to integrate our SOS children in the community. It was a successful achieved through participation of the children in different summer activities, like summer camps, swimming polls, famous football players accompanying in the playground, registration as youngsters in famous football clubs and exchange of visits with their SOS mothers families and friends.
Children's health and education
The schools performance of our children this term is progressing the result of success is 87% . This result is achieved through on-site tutoring programs provided for children with academic deficiencies or who need help in specific subjects. These lessons are carried out by teachers with good training & expertise.
The health of our children in general is good, this was reported by physicians & psychiatrists who are following the cases of the children closely & scheduling their appointments with the specialists & keeping their health records.
Our village was built in 1975 and most of the houses and furniture are not in good shape. SOS Children has decided to build us a new village. As they said construction of the new village will start at the beginning of 2008. SOS Children Villages Khartoum is not only caring for a abandoned children but it also carrying out advocacy programs in the neighbourhood talking about HIV Aids , child's right & girls circumcision avoidance & danger.
