2005
2005 started with the aftermath of the Asian Tsunami disaster, which filled five SOS Children's Villages with orphaned children and then, in October, a devastating earthquake struck Kashmir. SOS Children was in the centre of both disasters and in Kashmir was made temporary legal guardian for every lone child in the whole region.

The Kashmir earthquake left hundreds of children orphaned and in need of sponsorship. Our charity reunited many with their families but will care for other children until their independence.

SOS Children was one of the leading charities in the immediate aftermath of the Asian Tsunami and long after all the other charities and TV cameras have gone is still there provided a family life for the children who were orphaned.
