SOS Children Charity News
Latest charity news from around the world including third party news stories for those interested in child welfare and news from SOS Children projects worldwide
SOS Children operates projects for children in 124 countries, specialising in giving children the chance of a family childhood. The news articles listed below are a mixture of our own news from around the world and articles contracted from third parties which we think are relevant to our work.
We can provide news, stories and interviews, source features, pictures and footage on a wide range of topics from around the world. Our strength is that unlike many other UK development organisations, we are based in-situ, permanently. We predominantly (98%) employ local people and receive regular automatic news-updates from our colleagues on the ground. We can also provide statements and analysis on more general topics, such as child's rights, education and equality.
We are a reliable organisation and news source, having been awarded the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize and nominated numerous times for the Nobel Peace Prize. We have an extremely extensive network and are regarded as experts in the field of child protection, family tracing, child trauma and the care of children with no viable family.
If you would like more information about SOS Children then useful places to look are our charity facts section, including a short pdf download called SOS Children in a nutshell. If you are interested in visiting our projects around the world then you should contact elizabeth@soschildren.org . We have considerable video footage and photographic material from around the world.
We also have some topic related microsites for those interested in researching a particular topic; namely emergency relief work, street child projects including preventative programs, a site detailing some of our work with child soldiers, our SOS Medical and Social Centres, and of course our charity's 192 schools. In addition to these sites we also have a website to convince people to sponsor a child through any charity, and gives a gentle comparison of the differences.
